

WHO WE ARE
C.A.R.E. Foundation is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. We are committed to making a positive impact in the communities we serve through providing development services to youth and young adults throughout South Louisiana. The foundation has been designed to teach Career Readiness through technology and coaching, provide Academic Resilience Training, Social Emotional Learning and promote Exposure to new ideas, cultures, opportunities and environments.

C.A.R.E. Foundation provides high-quality academic, athletic, character and career readiness programs that build confidence and empower youth to make the choice to be successful in life, engage parents, and enrich the community.

We provide multiple programs including: Academic Resilience Training™ (ART), MySuccess Path™, Social Emotional Learning Athletics™ (SELA) and Code-Out which were created by C.A.R.E. to assist students in character building through a combination of academic and athletic success.
ABOUT OUR TEAM

John Westley Stewart
John W. Stewart is founder and CEO of the C.A.R.E Foundation. He also works as an Athletic Manager & Teacher. In these roles, he is responsible for the strategy, design and execution of sports, health & wellness programs. These programs include a wide variety of topics focused on Character development, Academic support, Recreational activities and Virtual education programs.
In all of his programs, speaking engagements and events, he incorporates a customized approach to connect directly with the students needs through mentoring, coaching and teaching Social Emotional Learning Athletics which combines a mix of fundamental fitness skills and the true character of an athlete. This unique approach enables significant focus on identification of critical learning and behavior gaps resulting in deployment of innovative solutions to develop and empower positive youth in today’s society.
Stewart has worked in several roles from Program Management, Sales, Customer Service and Real Estate. His experience spans multiple industries including Technology, Education, Manufacturing and Service. Previous to current roles in Baton Rouge, La, he was based in Northern California.
He studied at Silicon Valley College and HSU. He is an ex Rugby player (Pelicans, Grizzlies, etc...) who is very active in organizing local community events and has been nominated for the Apple Award.

Daniel Smith, Jr.
Daniel Smith is the co-founder and CFO of the C.A.R.E. Foundation. Daniel graduated from Xavier University in New Orleans in 2002, and later received a Masters in Business Administration from LSU in 2010.

Daniel has held many job titles and filled many job roles over the past 21 years. His first job was at McDonald’s, now he owns and operates a multi-state Insurance Brokerage and is the co-founder and CFO of the C.A.R.E Foundation. He holds various professional training designations, has done motivational speaking, conducted community training seminars, tutored and trained youth, been a career advisor, volunteers on a regular basis, and traveled internationally working for Fortune 500 companies.

Tracy White
Tracy White is an active member of the C.A.R.E. Foundation Board. She is a Public Affairs Specialist at Cox Communications. In this role she oversees the company's annual employee giving program, serves as the community relations contact for Baton Rouge and New Orleans, and cultivates key relationships in the community.
Before joining Cox, she worked for a chemical manufacturing company as an organization design and change management facilitator, where she led internal communications efforts through a large-scale reorganization.
Tracy is passionate about youth development and helping others. She has over 10 years of nonprofit experience serving as a communications manager for a community nonprofit and for the Care Foundation.
She grew up playing point forward in an organized sports league and currently lives in Sorrento, LA, where she enjoys playing pick-up games with her son and traveling to Cocodrie to catch redfish with her husband.
Tracy is a graduate of the Baton Rouge Area Chamber's 2020 Leadership Program. She obtained her bachelor’s degree from Nicholls State University where she studied communications and social sciences.

Heather Herring is a Board Advisor and Business Coach for the C.A.R.E. Foundation. She is a professional engineer and proud alumna of the Haskayne School of Business. She is known for her ability to pinpoint the essential elements of an idea, business, challenge or person and use her leadership, innovation, and management skills to identify opportunities for excellence.
As a coach, she supports client companies in business, communications and customer development. Often described as passionate, driven, and admired for her ability to forge connections between people and industries, Heather shines brightest at the intersection of cooperation, collaboration and competition to drive success for all parties.
Her varied career has included serving as the Executive in Residence with Zone Startups Calgary and extensive work in academia, private and public sector companies with a focus on energy and sustainability. She was responsible for securing research grants and developing VR and 3D printing research facilities at the University of Calgary; focusing the R&D program, overseeing field pilots for new oil sands technologies, and formulating the creation of COSIA for Total E&P Canada; and exploring the emergence of the digital oil field at Laricina. She is the Vice Chair of Platform Calgary and past Chair of Tecterra
